Happy 812th Birthday LIVERPOOL

Updated: Dec 15, 2019

My favourite building in all of Liverpool, the Royal Liver Building built in 1911.

Did you know #Liverpool is one of the few cities that has an actual birthday?

August 28, 1207, King John signed the charter that established Liverpool as an independent borough and a privileged port. This lead to the expansion into the fishing village. This city is rich in history. Through the years Liverpool has played some important roles. It became a huge trade route, the world’s first enclosed wet docks were introduced in 1715.

In 1892. As we all know well, John Houlding established the current Champions of Europe, Liverpool Football Club.

During the Second World War Liverpool became the epicenter to planning the “Battle of the Atlantic”.

In the early 1960s, the city was known for its culture and the renowned sounds of the “Merseybeat” which became synonymous with The Beatles.

I fell in love with this city not only because of Liverpool FC but for its culture, music, beautiful architecture and the people. The first time I visited, it felt like home. I still feels that way now.

Happy 812th Birthday LIVERPOOL, you are a glorious city!!
